Valpolicella, 1999

Bertani - Villa Novare

The Valpolicella zone is bordered to the west by the Bardolino DOC, located along the banks of Lake Garda, which produces similar wines to basic Valpolicella using many of the same grapes. The historical "heart" of Valpolicella winemaking is in the Monti Lessini hills located northwest of the town of Verona. In 1968, the boundaries of the region were extended far eastward towards the DOC production zone of Soave and south to the plains of the northern bank of the Po river and its tributary the Adige.

Chateau Gloria, 1999

St Julien

The 1999 Chateau Gloria is generous and well-structured, these intense, complex wines are typical of the Saint Julien appellation. The result of traditional vinification, they have a strong, rich colour. On the palate, they are expressive, rounded and supple. They should be kept for a few years to express their full potential.

Château Gloria's plots were acquired by Henri Martin, mayor of Saint-Julien Beychevelle during the 20th century. This unavoidable figure of the Médoc (one of the founding members of the Commanderie du Bontemps) has raised this vintage to the level of excellent classified growths of the appellation.

Chateauneuf du Pape, 1999

Domaine Vieux Telegraphe La Crau

The 1999 Vieux Telegraphe Rouge invariably has a beautiful colour, an earthy nose, but one of freshness, lively and promising. One finds freshness in the mouth, nervy and lightly mentholated. At the same time, it is suave and rich on the finish. The tannins are supple and ripe with no dryness. The end of the tasting is very clean and woody, rich with a light liquorice taste.

With its structure and complexity this red wine will go well with game, lamb or risotto with wild mushrooms cooked in a red wine sauce.

Chateauneuf du Pape, 1999

Chateau de Beaucastel Pierre Perrin

"A beautiful wine that will improve even more over the next few years."
Château de Beaucastel vertical tasting - Famille Perrin - 2013-12-03

"With a beautiful deep black colour, the 1999 vintage has an intense nose of ripe fruit with animal notes. The palate reveals powerful tannins."
Famille Perrin - 2016-09-21

"The truffle and cigar characters enchant the nose. The attack in mouth reveals all the power of this tense wine: a balance between richness and notes of liquorice. Decant 2 hours before serving at 16 ° C or to wait, with a very nice potential."
Famille Perrin - 2017-10-01
