This rare Port Wine has been stored in seasoned oak casks since the 1999 harvest until it was bottled this year. This 20 year old is an outstanding example of an aged tawny.

Tasting Notes: The 1999 Port from Palmer has a light oak colour. Much elegance on the nose with orange peel, walnuts, figs and a touch of honey. On the palate, there is a lightness that is balanced by good acidity. This port wine delivers a beautiful flavour supported by a long, long finish. Outstanding.

Sandeman 1999 Vau Vintage: Tasting notes:
Deep red, opaque and inky with intense, fresh red fruit aromas. In the mouth it has rich plummy flavours with hints of strawberry supported by firm tannins giving a firm backbone and which will allow it to age superbly over several years. It is a superb match for desserts and mince pies.

Production method
Fermentation in stainless steel vats and in presses under controlled temperature, arrested through the addition of grape alcohol. Matured for 2 years in large used oak vats, bottled in 2nd year after harvest and aged in bottle since. Both dates appear on label.

A rare and outstanding 1999 vintage Spanish Wine from Anima Negra. Son Negre is only launched into the market in exceptional vintages. This Crianza wine comes as a result of a collaboration with the artist and close friend Miquel Barceló, who designs an exclusive label for each of the Son Negre’s vintages, similar to Mouton Rothschild. The wine has cult status in Spain, with only very few bottles produced.

The 1999 Son Negre shows a very expressive aroma of toasted bread, violets, tobacco, black cherries and black raspberries on the nose.Very rich in the mouth, with layers of fruit and spices and a very long finish.

Blandy’s Malmsey 1999 vintage Madeira was aged for 16 years in seasoned American oak casks and as with all the family’s vintages, this wine started its ageing process in the warm high attic floors of the lodge in the centre of Funchal. Over the 16 years, the wine passed down from the warmer top floor of the Blandy’s Wine Lodges, the “Sotão de Amendoa” where it spent the first 5 years, to the second floor for 7 years and finally to the cooler first for the remaining 4 years. The art of finding the right balance between concentration and the freshness of the wine lies in the winemaker’s decision when to transfer the wine to the lower cooler north facing floors of the lodge.

Chateau Latour , 1999

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

Many regard Latour as the greatest of Bordeaux's Premier Crus. Their 1999 as been desribed as 'sensational', 'luscious' and 'exciting'. It's beautifully concentrated and impeccably balanced, with just the right amount of chewy tannin and fruit extraction, but with a slightly gentle level of acidity. Gobs of cassis and blackberry compote sit with smoky oak, mineral notes and a whiff of leather. Some regard it as the wine of the vintage, Parker awarded it 93-95 points and Jancis Robinson gave it a very hefty 18/20. Drinking now, until beyond 2030.
